Strategies for navigating complexity and driving system-wide transformation

05 Nov 2025

This session explores the critical capabilities senior leaders need to navigate politically charged, resource-constrained environments while driving meaningful, long-terms transformation. Drawing on case studies from the NHS and international settings, we will bridged the gap between strategic vision and practical implementation. As capacity shifts closer to community-based care, leaders must adapt to models that prioritise local networks, equity, and patient empowerment.

In this session, you will:

  • Explore what effective system leadership looks like today - beyond organisational hierarchies - focusing on influence, emotional intelligence and cultivating a culture of trust.
  • Understand how to learn from the patient journey, including how to co-design care, and deliver outside of traditional institutional boundaries.
  • Explore how digital disruption is reshaping healthcare, and why systems thinking is essential to deliver improvements.
  • Understand how validated improvement methodologies should be applied so that the technology doesn't lead the change, but enables the delivery of better care.
