How digital tools can reduce health inequity in low- and middle-income countries
)
Preventable diseases account for eight of the top ten causes of death in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
These nations face significant healthcare challenges, including workforce shortages, underfunded systems, and infrastructure gaps. As a result, millions are left without access to the quality care they need. However, digital health technologies present a powerful solution.
From telemedicine connecting rural doctors to specialists to mobile apps improving medication adherence, and AI-driven diagnostics enhancing disease detection – these innovations are already transforming healthcare in LMICs.
Yet, there is still more to be done.
To maximise impact, collaboration is key. Governments, healthcare providers, and innovators must work together to address infrastructure barriers and expand access to these life-saving tools.
