Amit Nigam

Professor of Management , Bayes Business School

Professor Amit Nigam is Head of the Faculty of Management and Professor of Management at Bayes Business School (City, University of London). His scholarly work focuses on the political, sensemaking, and framing mechanisms of organizational and institutional change—especially in professions and health-care systems—investigating how new institutional logics emerge, and how organizational search, learning, and routines evolve during change.

Amit’s empirical research is rooted primarily in healthcare settings, where he examines how individuals’ social positions shape their engagement with change, and how professions adapt to institutional shifts. His publications span leading management and health journals, including Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, Academy of Management Review, Organization Studies, Social Science & Medicine, Medical Care Research & Review, and BMJ Leader.

In addition to his academic role, Amit Nigam serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Leader, a peer-reviewed journal for clinical leaders with a focus on leadership and management in healthcare.

Before joining Bayes, he held academic roles at institutions including New York University and the University of Toronto, and has trained in management, organizations, and sociology (having earned a PhD through a joint program).

Amit is a sought-after speaker and thinker on system transformation, bridging theory and practice in healthcare change, institutional innovation, and leadership.
