Barry Solaiman
Barry Solaiman is a leading academic and researcher specialising in the intersection of law, healthcare, and emerging technologies. He is co-editor of the Research Handbook on Health, AI and the Law and has published extensively on the regulation of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with his work presented at international conferences around the world.
His research extends beyond AI to explore the legal and ethical implications of emerging technologies such as the metaverse and blockchain in healthcare. Barry’s work is driven by a commitment to developing robust regulatory frameworks that ensure innovation is both responsible and impactful.
At Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), he served as Lead Principal Investigator on a multidisciplinary grant focused on developing guidelines for the use of AI and machine learning in healthcare research. In addition, at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar (WCM-Q), he is Co-Director of the Intersection of Law & Medicine Series, an initiative accredited by both Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health and the ACCME in the United States.
Barry also brings a broader perspective shaped by his academic work on political lobbying and campaign finance, the focus of his PhD at the University of Cambridge. Recognising the significant influence of healthcare lobbying on policy and legislation, he is passionate about reform and transparency in this space.
