Emma Jane Hosking

Dr Emma Hosking has been a consultant anaesthetist since 2004 and has held multiple leadership positions including medical director at local, corporate and system levels. Emma has a MSc in Medical Leadership and is a visiting lecturer at Bayes Business School. Emma has taught extensively on medical and clinical leadership and is part of the faculty for the new Future Leaders in Anaesthesia course sponsored by the Association of Anaesthetists and delivered by Bayes Executive Education. 

Emma has been a reviewer with the Anaesthetic Clinical Services Accreditation Scheme at the Royal College of Anaesthetists for ten years. She has taken part in college-led invited reviews of clinical services. Emma is one of the authors of the Good Practice for Anaesthetic Services document and chaired the group which produced the guidelines for Supporting and Managing Anaesthetists with Performance Concerns (2024).

Emma researches the experience of medical leaders in more remote and rural areas of the UK in her role as honorary clinical senior lecturer at Bangor University. In her independent role she carries out service reviews as well as teaching, speaking and facilitating workshops at in-person and online conferences.
