Gwydion Williams

Gwydion Williams is Deputy Director for AI at PATH, where he leads a portfolio of projects focused on developing and evaluating artificial intelligence to improve access to healthcare in low-resource health systems.

His work explores how AI can be designed and implemented effectively in real-world healthcare settings, with a particular focus on evidence, scalability and impact. This includes LLM-based clinical decision support in sub-Saharan Africa, scalable training for community health workers, and cost-effective approaches to monitoring and evaluating AI-enabled health interventions.

Before joining PATH, Gwydion built and managed a portfolio of digital health and AI investments at Wellcome and previously worked on the design and evaluation of machine learning models for digital health interventions.

A neuroscientist by training, Gwydion holds a PhD from UCL. His work brings together AI, digital health and evidence generation to explore how emerging technologies can support more accessible and effective healthcare.
