With over a decade’s leadership experience in NHS acute hospitals, Professor Joe Harrison has served as Chief Executive at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) since 2013 NHS ConfederationBLMK Integrated Care Board. Under his leadership, MKUH dramatically improved in quality, performance, and financial stability, earned teaching hospital status, and pioneered digital innovations that transformed patient care and experience NHS ConfederationBLMK Integrated Care Board. He has also steered significant estate developments—including an academic centre with the University of Buckingham and a new cancer centre—to meet growing patient demand in one of the UK's most rapidly expanding regions NHS Confederation.

Beyond MKUH, Joe champions wellbeing, research, and innovation. He actively serves on the boards of the Oxford Academic Health Science Network, NHS Confederation’s Employers Policy Board, and the National Advisory Board for NHS Supply Chain NHS Supply ChainNHS Confederation. Joe also held the influential role of National Director for Digital Channels, overseeing a resurgence in NHS App usage, and has worked with NHSX to advance integrated, patient-centred health information systems BLMK Integrated Care BoardNHS Confederation.

In recognition of his service to healthcare, Joe was appointed a CBE in the 2025 New Year Honours. His leadership blends strategic insight, digital transformation, and community focus—making him a compelling speaker and advocate for the future of healthcare.
