Joe Zhang is a medical doctor, data scientist, and NHS data expert. He is currently Head of Data Science for the London AI Centre and Secure Data Environment (SDE) programme, responsible for delivering advanced data infrastructure, technology, and analytical capabilities for London. Joe has more than a decade of experience across healthcare analytics and machine learning, clinical informatics, Real-World Data (RWD) acquisition and strategy, and technical programme management. He previously worked for Arcturis Data, leading design and build of the core RWD pipeline and product, and was a Wellcome Fellow at Imperial College London. His research has been published in BMJ, Lancet, and Nature journals and used to support national data/digital strategy.
