Lead, South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Improvement Method

Madeleine Ridley leads the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Improvement Method, driving the implementation of a system-wide approach to continuous improvement across one of Western Australia's largest public health services.

Working closely with executive leaders, clinical teams, and the Virginia Mason Institute, Madeleine is helping to embed a culture of improvement that enables safer, more reliable, and more patient-centred care. Her work focuses on developing organisational capability through strategic leadership, daily management systems, visual management, and continuous improvement methodologies that support sustainable change.

Madeleine is passionate about partnering with healthcare leaders to build the skills, behaviours, and systems needed to deliver lasting transformation. She has played a key role in establishing the SMHS Improvement Method, supporting leaders and frontline teams to adopt practical improvement approaches that enhance quality, safety, and operational performance.

With a strong focus on collaboration, capability building, and continuous learning, Madeleine is committed to helping healthcare organisations create environments where improvement becomes part of everyday practice.
