Paul Dimitri

Professor of Child Health Technology, Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust

Professor Paul Dimitri is a leading expert in paediatric endocrinology with a career in paediatrics spanning over 25 years. Since 2004, he has specialised in paediatric endocrinology, caring for children and young people with disorders of growth, puberty, and hormone imbalances. At Sheffield Children’s Hospital, he co-leads both the Hypothalamic and Pituitary Tumour Service and the Paediatric Late Effects Endocrinology Service, which supports childhood cancer survivors managing hormonal complications.

Internationally recognised for his research into the effects of childhood obesity on bone health and skeletal development, Professor Dimitri plays a pivotal role in advancing paediatric health innovation. He is the Director of Innovation and Child Health Technology at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and leads the NIHR Children and Young People MedTech Co-operative (NIHR CYP MedTech)—the UK’s first paediatric-focused NIHR MedTech Co-operative. This initiative brings together seven NHS Trusts to drive the development of cutting-edge child health technologies.

Professor Dimitri is at the forefront of a national effort to transform paediatric healthcare through technology. He is leading the development of the National Centre for Child Health Technology at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park—a landmark facility set to become a global hub for pioneering research and innovation in child health.

In addition, he serves as the Clinical Lead for the TITCH (Technology Innovation Transforming Child Health) Network, supporting the creation and adoption of health technologies tailored to children's needs. He is also the NIHR National Children’s Specialty Lead, overseeing paediatric research across 15 Local Clinical Research Networks, and the Vice President for Science and Research at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
