Richard Sterry
Richard Sterry is the Head of Performance and Interim General Manager (Medicine) at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. In this role, he oversees a broad portfolio of services, including gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, and medical day case units, while also serving as the Site Lead for North Tyneside General Hospital.
With over a decade of NHS operational leadership experience, Richard has managed a range of elective, diagnostic, cancer, and emergency care services across multiple acute hospital trusts. His leadership has been instrumental in implementing innovative care models, such as the UK's first virtual ward for lung cancer patients, which has improved patient outcomes and reduced hospital stays.
Beyond his responsibilities at Northumbria, Richard serves as the JAG (Joint Advisory Group) Management Lead with the Royal College of Physicians. In this capacity, he supports the accreditation of endoscopy units across the UK and contributes to national training initiatives aimed at enhancing endoscopy service quality.
