Rose Stokes

Rose Stokes is a journalist who regularly writes about health, bodies and women's lives for The Guardian, The Telegraph, Women's Health and Metro. She is also the producer and co-host of A Matter of Fat, a new podcast on weight, obesity science and the GLP-1 era, made with Professor Giles Yeo MBE of the University of Cambridge.
She brings thirty years of experience as a patient in obesity care, and writes about weight stigma in clinical settings, the limits of BMI, and the distance between what the evidence shows and what patients are told in the consulting room.

She spent six years at The Economist before going freelance. In 2022 she received the Sheila McKechnie Foundation's Consumer Campaign of the Year Award, alongside BPAS, for a national campaign to reduce the cost of the morning-after pill. She is currently writing her first book.
