Sally Okoye is the Winter Commander for South Metropolitan Health Service, leading the implementation of Department of Health winter initiatives and coordinating the health service provider-wide response to the annual challenges of increased winter demand. Passionate about patient flow and ensuring people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time, Sally is driven by a simple philosophy: good patient care equals good patient flow. She is particularly interested in how health services can proactively prepare for and care for the patients they have not yet seen.

Over 27 years in WA Health, with a clinical background in Emergency and Intensive Care nursing, Sally has spent many years in out-of-hours management and operational leadership roles. Her experience includes serving as Acting Nurse Director of Capacity and Access at Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group, as well as Clinical Lead for the transition of Ramsay Health Care to public governance. Most recently, she worked as Director of Engagement and Transformation, at Peel health Campus, leading clinical and organisational change initiatives over 18 months following the transition, with a focus on improving access, patient experience, and timely care across the system
