Anthony Cronshaw

I am a husband, father and grandfather and the joint-carer, along with my wife, of our disabled son; consequently, I have a four-decade-long experience of contact with many clinical specialisms.

I have a long-standing interest in all aspects provision, care, support and nurture of people with neural tube defects.

Now retired, I was a headteacher in mainstream education and hold an Advanced Diploma in Education in The Education of Children with Special Needs in Ordinary Schools (DASE: ECSNOS) and I am deeply committed to full, functional integration of all people in our multi-cultural society.

In recent years I have, through family need, had contact with oncology, cardiovascular medicine (including acute services), diabetology, pancreatology, pancreatogenic (Type 3c) diabetes and abdominal surgery.

Since 2018 I have been a Quality Improvement Partner with Leeds NHS Teaching Hospital Trust.

I am an active member of the Patient and Carer Community of Leeds University Medical School, contributing to medical education of future doctors, nurses, radiologists and psychologists.   

I see the involvement of healthcare users in the processes of design, construction and continuous improvement as fundamental to successful outcomes.  Such companionship calls for a migration from doing things “to” and “for” patients, to doing things “with people”, in transparent participatory co-production.

I have a deep personal interest in the interface between philosophy, science and theology and the re-imagination of cultural systems brought forward by the paradigm shift to the Information Flow Epoch of digitization, artificial intelligence and the metaverse – and how value can be created in evolutionary transformative ways.
