ELE-Stress: Adaptive XR Therapy for Acute Occupational Stress
Missed MRI appointments cost the NHS around £11 million annually and can harm patient outcomes. iSAVE (Improving Service Access using Virtual Exposure) is a VR solution that helps patients, including children, young adults, and anxious adults, prepare for scans by becoming familiar with the MRI process. The tool adapts in real time to anxiety via AI-powered Eye Movement monitoring to deliver personalised exposure therapy.
Greener Games
Harmony: A Personalized Extended Reality (XR) Therapeutic Solution for Moderate to Severe Mental Health Conditions
Harmony by Greener Games is a personalised VR therapy platform for people experiencing moderate to severe mental-health challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression, PTSD) across primary, community and secondary care. Acting as a mirror to the mind, it reveals each person’s Environmental DNA, the unique signature of environments where they feel safe, seen and whole, through the spaces they create and return to. Shaped by early findings and advice from NHS Manchester clinicians and people with lived experience, Harmony quietly tracks the environments people choose, forests or rooms, storms or sunshine, across more than half a million possibilities. It supports ICS priorities on prevention, shorter waits and patient activation. We have demonstrated Harmony to Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS FT and are preparing an NHS Manchester pilot.
Intercultural Roots for Public Health (IRPH) with EcoGPX Ltd
Extending Nature: immersive XR experiences to build therapeutic nature-connectedness for adults living with GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder)
Intercultural Roots for Public Health (IRPH) and EcoGPX Ltd will showcase Extending Nature (XN) — an XR therapeutic that blends breathwork and nature-connected movement practices with 360-degree video and immersive sound to reduce anxiety in adults with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Co-designed with a consultant psychiatrist, lived-experience advisors, eco-artists, academics and a digital reality-capture specialist, XN is intended for NHS primary care, community mental health and social prescribing; it can also support secondary-care anxiety and staff wellbeing.
SONA (MINDSPIRE)
VR THERAPY + CLOSE LOOP VAGUS STIMULATION
SONA is developing SONA VR, a new precision neurotechnology that combines their auricular vagus nerve stimulation earpiece with immersive virtual reality to support people experiencing chronic pain and poor mental health. The combination delivers gentle, non-invasive stimulation while users engage in calming VR environments designed to reduce pain perception and anxiety by retraining the brain’s response to stress.
SONA VR has been co-designed with clinicians and people with lived experience of chronic pain and anxiety. We have just received full ethics approval for a pre-clinical study at East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with a cohort of patients with peri-operative shoulder pain.
Photography Based Therapeutics Ltd
Photography Based Therapeutics and the PBT app
Photography Based Therapeutics (PBT) is developing the world’s first clinically studied, safe photo app using augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to support mental health care for neurodivergent children and young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Co-designed with clinicians, SEND youth, and academic partners at the University of Surrey and Royal Brompton Hospital, PBT transforms everyday photography into therapeutic data that helps patients express emotions and clinicians monitor wellbeing safely and effectively.
PBT is being developed as a regulated software medical device to ensure safety, transparency, and clinical trust. It supports primary and secondary care by reducing CAMHS waiting-list pressures, strengthening early intervention, and providing scalable, data-driven insights for ICBs and public-health teams. Early pilots are under way within NHS-linked research settings.

Transforming EMDR Delivery: A VR-Based EMDR Therapy for Enhanced Efficiency, Cost Savings and Improved Accessibility in the UK
Reinhart is a health innovation consultancy transforming evidence-based therapies into accessible digital solutions. We will showcase our Virtual Reality Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (VR-EMDR) platform, developed with clinicians, academic partners, and lived-experience experts through Innovate UK’s Mindset XR programme.
EMDR is a NICE-recommended therapy for PTSD, with applications across anxiety and depression. By embedding it into an immersive VR environment enriched with passive biofeedback (HRV, GSR, voice sentiment, facial expression), we create the UK’s first dataset linking physiological signals with emotional states during live therapy. This enables real-time clinical insight, reduces treatment times by 30-40%, and improves patient engagement.
Our innovation supports both NHS and corporate wellbeing contexts. For healthcare systems, it offers measurable cost savings (reducing PTSD treatment sessions from 12 to 8, saving up to £500–600 per patient) and scalability in community and workplace settings. For clinicians, it enhances monitoring and reduces reliance on self-reporting.
We are already piloting under Innovate UK grant 10151971, with engagement from EMDR UK and PTSD UK. At BMJ, delegates will experience VR-EMDR hands-on via headset demos.
