Empowering clinicians to publish, scale and transform healthcare
Since 2016, the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) has supported over 1,300 NHS staff—both clinical and non-clinical—in developing innovations that directly benefit patients and improve the NHS. Delivered by Anglia Ruskin University and backed by the Accelerated Access Collaborative, the CEP champions a start-up mindset within the NHS, empowering its workforce with the skills, mentorship and community to turn bold ideas into impactful solutions.
This year, as part of The Big Pitch, we’re proud to highlight our partnership with BMJ Future Health. Together, CEP and BMJ are building an archive of clinical innovation—a special online collection of peer-reviewed papers authored by Clinical Entrepreneurs. These published works represent more than academic achievements; they are real-world solutions born from frontline challenges, now shared globally to inspire and inform change.
BMJ Future Health exists to amplify healthcare innovation. In a time of financial constraint and growing healthcare demands, BMJ recognises the essential role of digital health and clinical entrepreneurship in building more sustainable, equitable health systems. Their mission aligns with the core CEP values—community, empowerment, innovation, education, inclusivity and collaboration—making this partnership a natural fit.
As you explore this year's Big Pitch, you’ll see the impact of this partnership everywhere: in the stories of Clinical Entrepreneurs who’ve launched companies, led NHS transformation projects, or balanced dual careers in practice and innovation. Now, through publication in BMJ journals, these innovators are influencing healthcare and life science far beyond their immediate settings.
